Project Veritas’ James O’Keefe Is Suing Twitter After He Was Permanently Banned

Project Veritas Founder James O’Keefe announced he is suing Twitter Thursday after the social media platform permanently banned the investigative journalist over claims he set up fake accounts.

“You may not register or create fake and misleading accounts or use multiple accounts to manipulate Twitter conversations,” the company wrote in an email explaining Thursday’s suspension. “This account will not be reinstated.”

O’Keefe announced a lawsuit shortly after charging defamation.

“I am suing Twitter for defamation because they said I, James O’Keefe, ‘operated fake accounts.’” O’Keefe wrote in an emailed statement to The Federalist. “This is false, this is defamatory, and they will pay. Section 230 may have protected them before, but it will not protect them from me. The complaint will be filed Monday.”

In the meantime, O’Keefe, who had nearly one million Twitter followers before the indefinite suspension, may be followed on Telegram here.

Twitter’s ban of the conservative journalist came just after “#ExposeCNN” trended on the platform for days when O’Keefe’s latest exposé dropped Tuesday which featured a CNN executive touting the network’s “propaganda” operation to oust President Donald Trump.

“We got Trump out,” CNN Technical Director Charlie Chester says on hidden camera. “I am a hundred percent going to say it, and I a hundred percent believe it that if it wasn’t for CNN, I don’t know that Trump would have got voted out.”

According to Mediaite, citing a source close to CNN, Project Veritas elicited the testimony caught on hidden tape by one of its members meeting Chester on five Tinder dates.

Twitter did not immediately respond to The Federalist’s request for comment.
