Organization Claims White People Sharing Oprah Memes Is ‘Digital Blackface’

People are getting “canceled” for their tweets from a decade ago. In ten years from now, a new wave of cancelations could include people who are sharing harmless memes today, as an organization dedicated to social justice is now accusing social media users of “digital blackface.”

According to the Slow Factory Foundation, “digital blackface” is “an online phenomenon where white and non-black people share GIFs and photos of black folks to express emotion or reaction to anything happening on the internet.”

“Performing blackness, be it IRL or online, is not an acceptable form of expressing reaction or dissatisfaction, especially not in exchange for likes and retweets,” the Slow Factory wrote in an Instagram recent post.

The organization issued its warning about “digital blackface” following Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s interview with Oprah Winfrey, which resulted in new popular internet memes featuring Oprah Winfrey.

“Since the #MeghanandHarry interview on Oprah, we’ve been seeing a lot of digital blackface infractions with a few of Oprah’s reaction gifs and images going viral, but that doesn’t mean you should be using them,” the Slow Factory wrote explained.

The Slow Factory claims that “while seemingly harmless,” these types of memes being used by non-black people “reinforces negative stereotypes about black folks such as they’re aggressive, loud, sassy, and simply here for your consumption and entertainment.”

“It is another way people try and co-opt black identity and culture without any of the day-to-day realities of being black,” the organization continued.

The Slow Factory then compared sharing internet memes to white performers of the past painting their faces black to perform “blackface.”

“It was not long ago that white performers would paint their face black as a form of entertainment for the masses, often playing with the idea that black folks are primitive and violent, and hyper-sexualizing black women,” the Instagram post read. “The way that white and non-black folks engage in digital blackface feels too reminiscent of these old shows.”

“For example, in light of the Meghan Markle and Prince Harry interview with Oprah this past week, social media has been plastered with Oprah reaction gifs and ‘which Oprah are you today?’ graphics, callously being spread by non-black users,” the organization added.

The Slow Factory added that the usage of black emojis by non-black people is also an act of “digital blackface.”

Farmers Sue Biden Administration Over ‘Racist’ COVID Relief Plan

Epoch Times

Published

on

A disabled white farmer has sued President Joe Biden’s administration over his COVID-19 loan forgiveness program, alleging he can’t participate because he is white.

Adam Faust, a white resident of Chilton, Calumet County in Wisconsin, is one of five Midwestern farmers who filed a lawsuit on April 6 that accuses the federal government of violating their constitutional rights, Fox 11 reported.

The other plaintiffs are farmers from Wisconsin, Minnesota, South Dakota, and Ohio who have direct loans with the Farm Service Agency or USDA-backed loans and are “otherwise eligible for the loan-forgiveness program in ARPA, except for the color of their skin,” according to the lawsuit.

Attorneys for the Wisconsin Institute for Law and Liberty filed the suit on behalf of the white farmers in federal court in Green Bay, Wisconsin.

As per the lawsuit, the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021 (ARPA) provides $4 billion to forgive loans for “socially disadvantaged” farmers and ranchers.

The phrase “socially disadvantaged” includes explicit racial classifications, according to the lawsuit, which states that in order to be eligible for ARPA’s debt relief, farmers and ranchers must be black, Native American, Hispanic, Asian American, or a Pacific Islander.

It contends that other farmers—white farmers, for example—are ineligible.

“Were plaintiffs eligible for the loan forgiveness benefit, they would have the opportunity to make additional investments in their property, expand their farms, purchase equipment and supplies, and otherwise support their families and local communities,” the lawsuit states.

“Because plaintiffs are ineligible to even apply for the program solely due to their race, they have been denied the equal protection of the law and therefore suffered harm,” it adds.

The lawsuit requests that the court enter a temporary and preliminary injunction preventing defendants from applying racial classifications when determining eligibility for loan modifications and payments and to declare that the racial classifications are unconstitutional.

Faust, who is the owner of Faust Farms, branded the program racist.

“It was just out and out racist, and I really don’t think that there should be racism allowed in the federal government at any level,” he told Fox 11.

“If somebody’s green, I think they should be allowed to participate, based on their actual qualifications for the program, and not just picking an arbitrary thing like race.”

“I don’t see where they’re gonna be impacted any different than anybody else,” Faust said. “I’ve never seen any government program based solely on that. I mean, if it would’ve been against any other race, everybody would’ve been onboard and would’ve been complaining immediately!”

As per a press release from the U.S. Department of Agriculture published on April 29, the American Rescue Plan included provisions for USDA to pay up to 120 percent of loan balances, as of Jan. 1, 2021, for Farm Service Agency (FSA) Direct and Guaranteed Farm Loans and Farm Storage Facility Loans debt relief to any socially disadvantaged producer who has a qualifying loan with FSA.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture told Fox 11 that it was reviewing the lawsuit with the U.S. Department of Justice, but that the USDA plans to continue to offer loan forgiveness to “socially disadvantaged” farmers.

The Epoch Times has contacted the U.S. Department of Justice for comment.

Teacher Reads Book About Transgenderism to First Graders, School Board President in District Owns ALL AGES SEX SHOP

Gateway Pundit

A massive scandal is brewing in the Bellingham School District in Washington, where a first grade teacher recently read a book about transgenderism to her first grade class.

The uproar about the book lead parents to contact the school board — and the revelation that the school board president owns an “all ages” sex toy shop.

The teacher, Jennifer Miller, read the book I am Jazz to her class. The story was written by Jazz Jennings, who was on a reality show as a transgender child. It is about a two-year-old biological male transitioning to female, with the support of his parents.

When a concerned parent emailed the teacher to ask about the book, the teacher sent back a bunch of woke nonsense about inclusion. The email was obtained by the Young America’s Foundation.

“Yes, I did read this book,” Miller replied. “As a district we are working hard to support all members of our school community and promote inclusion through understanding and compassion.”

Parents began to reach out to the school board who refused to take any action.

An investigation by the Young America’s Foundation found that Jennifer Mason, president of the Bellingham School Board, owns and operates a self-described “all-ages” sex toy shop.

“I want to show people if sex isn’t something to be ashamed about, then I should be able to be an elected official and own a sex shop at the same time,” Mason told her local paper. “That’s what it means to live your values.”
